As a kid, Smith drew cartoons, sang in Oliver! and was an extra in Sharky's Machine. Inspired by "Golden Age" entertainment, he imitated voices, amassed recordings and rummaged through his father's LPs to find Stan Freberg, Nichols & May and Bob & Ray.

During a stint in college radio, he somehow managed to obtain an English degree. He has also studied performance and speech from coaches in Atlanta and Los Angeles.

Smith now works full-time as Creative Director at Sonoreco, LC on performance and multimedia projects, as well as coaching and instruction.
